In 1992 the state of California passed a voluntary ordinance requiring building owners of URM (un-reinforced masonry) structures built prior to March 1939 to strengthen these buildings. Then in 2000 this voluntary ordinance became mandatory with a completion date of January 1, 2006 as the deadline.

LOCATION: San Diego, CA
SCOPE: Provide seismic strengthening to comply with the City of San Diego un-reinforced masonry ordinance. This historic church was constructed in 1928. All work was performed within the attic space, in difficult access situations. Using this construction method it was unnecessary to remove the roofing. All finishes were returned to their original condition.
